Life is Like a Hallway

, , ,

Have you ever noticed that life is like a long hallway?  There’s all these doors and you must choose which one to open.  Which is the right door, i.e. the right choice.  So many times, I look back and wonder…did I make the right choice/did I open the right door?  I love long hallways.  They hold a sense of mystery and adventure.  What’s behind that door?  Or, that door?  Or how about that door?

I often dream of being in a long hallway where all the doors are shut and I must decide which door to open.  Sometimes, I’m scared and sometimes I’m excited, but whatever emotion I feel, it’s not mundane.  I’d like to stand in an elegant, beautiful hallway as I contemplate life.  I’d like more of the extraordinary and less of the ordinary.

Writing about many of my life’s choices and how they’ve worked out (or not) is therapeutic. I’d like to think that someone out there can benefit or appreciate my musings. After all, as Socrates said, the unexamined life is not worth living.
